Just another blog about life…

So Blessed

Mom_Beauty

Two nights ago was a very emotional evening.  My mom, who is on her final days of life, was visited by four very beautiful people.  They were people she knew from the hospital where she volunteered and where she had spent quite a bit of her time over the past 8 months.  However, these people weren’t coming to bring medicine, at least the kind she’s been filled with lately, but a different kind of tonic.

They came to sing.

We joined hands around my mom and these four voices graced the room with harmony and peace.  They sang of “going in peace”, “traveling on”, “amazing grace” and others that I can’t remember, but I can say my soul does.

The night was so frigid and harsh outside, yet these four angels came to give my mom “a gift” (that was another song actually, now that I think of it).  She was deeply moved.  Her eyes cracked open for the first time that day.  She can’t smile and she can’t communicate with words, but I could hear her.  While she is dealing with discomfort and disorientation, she wanted so bad to tell these beautiful souls how much they meant to her, and how thankful she was.

I could go on for days about a woman I aim my daughters toward to grow up like, but I need to take baby steps through this healing process and saying good-bye to such a beautiful, beautiful woman.  It is so hard.  I have been so blessed.

If you have a minute, here’s a video I made.  The quality isn’t too great, but the Angel in the pictures is:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar-ane_LTtQ

Blessings to you all and thanks for reading,
Darin
